State-of-the-art Virtual Studio in NCTU

The state-of-the-art 3D Virtual Studio has launched on May 17th, 2011 at College of Hakka Studies, National Chaio Tung University. The 40-million-dollar virtual studio not only has 3D digital signal processing, infrared homing filming, high definition producing but also make production tapeless. With these characteristics, this studio is by far the best facility among other universities in Taiwan, as well as video production industry. Students in the future can convey their creativities and carry out those ideas by the studio.

With the quick transformation of the media environment and production, there are some differences between traditional and current studios. And the biggest different would be the high-tech involvements. For example, the virtual studios are always be utilized for producing high-cost Hollywood films and live news during the election. Therefore, in order to meet this trend, College of Hakka Studies of National Chaio Tung University decides to construct this virtual studio. Though having the financial support from the school, Council of Hakka Affairs and HsinChu County Government, there were still lots of difficulties to proceed the studio construction, such as 2011 Tōhoku earthquake which procrastinated the imported equipment.

However, the hurdles have been crossed. The virtual studio which located at the Zhubei Campus of National Chaio Tung University still completed in time with high quality and technology. In other words, it’s also the state-of-the-art virtual studio in Taiwan.

The chair of department of communication and technology, Cheng Chao Tao said he expects the facility can not only inspire more creativity, researches and development but also facilitate on educating, researching and serving. Dean of College of Hakks Studies also point that virtual studio can provide the solid professional training to students who will become really competitive in the future.
