Media Internship Presentation “Between the Media Universe” – A Perfect Ending
The 113th-grade media internship presentation “Between the Media Universe” of the Department of Communication and Technology (DCAT) of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) was held on October 20 at the B1 International Conference Hall of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Library to showcase the results of student’’ internship during the two-month summer vacation this year.

Impacted by the pandemic in the past few years, the previous two internship presentations of the DCAT were held online. This internship presentation was presented offline for the first time in three years. Without the inheritance of experience from previous sessions, the preparation process encountered many difficulties in the past six months. Fortunately, students made a concerted effort to hold this internship presentation as scheduled.
In recent years, the concept of “multiverse” has permeated works in the film and television industry, and it has aroused people’s curiosity and conjecture about the infinite possibilities of time and space. Students in the DCAT are exposed to a wide range of fields, and the media affects everyone’s life. As if in a multiverse, we can play any role with the advantage of “infinite possibilities”. This summer, 40 upperclassmen students tried various roles in various media internship units to get a glimpse of the future.
Under the concept of the multiverse, “Between the Media Universe” became the theme of this media internship presentation. The signals conveyed through “between the media universe” contain the challenges and hardships we face in the internship unit, while the word “Media” emphasizes the role of media to the world, as is the role of us to the multiverse: every time we make a decision, there will be infinite futures, which in turn develop into different universes.
Decorating the venue of the internship presentation.
This media internship presentation was held as a sharing session, with performances and prelude films as warm-ups. The venue layout was divided into two areas: the stage area and the display area. Through the one-and-a-half-minute self-introduction of each presentee in the stage area, visitors can note the internships they are interested in, and then proceed to the display area to listen to further detailed explanations of students who participated in the internship. Interview videos of internship experience were shown in the presentation venue. The entire event was filmed, and the behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the event were released within two weeks after the event ended.

Underclassmen students can gain valuable experience through the internship presentation.
As communication technology has gradually become an indicator tool leading the world’s momentum, grasping the dynamics and connotations of media work in real-time has become one of the essential abilities that students studying in the communication field need to possess. In addition to fully absorbing the theoretical knowledge learned on campus, it should also be a compulsory credit for practice to connect with the workplace and gain a practical, in-depth understanding of media operations. During the summer vacation of 2022, the sophomores of the DCAT went out of campus to experience the joys and hardships of the workplace. After the summer vacation, they held a media internship presentation to show the essence of their internship to the faculties and students of the department, students from other departments of NYCU, and relevant media practitioners.
